The Duluth Xpress and Superior Lakers split a nonconference doubleheader Thursday in Cloquet.
Minnesota Duluth product Tyler Blomberg of Babbitt got the win in Superior’s 3-0 victory in the first game, striking out 10 and allowing just four hits in seven innings. Connor Lucas scored two runs and Lucas Steinbach had a double to lead the Lakers offensively.
Former Duluth Central standout Jake Snyder took the hard-luck loss for Duluth, allowing no earned runs in seven innings while striking out seven.
The Xpress bounced back to win the second game 6-5 after scoring four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, capped by Rejean Carlson stealing home for the winning run.
Mickie Keuning of St. Scholastica picked up the win in two innings of relief, while Adam Zwak of UMD took the loss for Superior despite allowing just two earned runs in five innings.
