Wisconsin-Superior dropped a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader to visiting Wisconsin-Whitewater on Saturday, 3-2 and 9-1.
In the opener, the Warhawks broke a 2-2 stalemate with the game-winning run in the eighth inning. Amanda Le Bard pitched the entire game for the Yellowjackets, allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits while walking one and striking out six. Taylor VanDamme had two hits for UWS.
Le Bard pitched the first four innings of the second game, allowing five runs on nine hits while walking one batter. Lindsay Garay threw the final inning, allowing four runs (two earned) on three hits while walking a batter. Ashlee Olson led the Yellowjackets with two hits.
Whitewater improved to 29-7 overall and 12-2 in the WIAC.
UWS (11-19, 4-10) completes the regular season today in a WIAC doubleheader against Wisconsin-Oshkosh (21-17, 6-8) at Liebaert Field. The first game starts at noon and can be viewed at www.ifan.tv.
