College softball: UWS, La Crosse split pair

Wisconsin-Superior rebounded from an opening-game shutout to edge Wisconsin-La Crosse 6-5 in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference series Friday at La Crosse.

Lindsay Garay, Ashlee Olson and Kayla Blom each had two hits for the Yellowjackets (7-11, 1-3), who rallied from a 3-1 deficit to score three runs in the fourth inning and two in the fifth. Amanda LeBard earned the win with a six-hitter.

Lauren Beres tossed a two-hitter and struck out seven as La Crosse (16-4, 1-1) won the opener 2-0.
