Minnesota Duluth men's basketball coach resigns

Gary Holquist has stepped down as coach of the Minnesota Duluth men’s basketball team, the university’s athletic department announced today.
Holquist, who was head coach for 14 seasons, has been named the director of development for athletics. UMD will immediately begin a nationwide search for a new coach.
Holquist, who played four years of college basketball at the now-defunct Milton (Wis.) College, finishes his coaching career with a 206-197 record and two NCAA Division II playoff berths, a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference regular-season title and two NSIC tournament titles. He coached two All-Americans, seven all-region and 19 all-conference players.
He was assistant coach at UMD under Dale Race from 1986-1998.
