Officials say overnight fire in Superior was arson

Superior firefighters responded to an arson fire overnight.

Superior firefighters responded to an arson fire overnight.

A passerby spotted and reported the fire at 1018 John Avenue at about 2:30 a.m. today. Firefighters found a fire in the kitchen area of a vacant house. The fire was contained to the room, causing an estimated $5,000 in damage.

Firefighters were on the scene for about two hours; fire investigators stayed at the scene longer. The Superior fire and police departments are jointly investigating the case.
