Defending conference champion Wisconsin-Stevens Point is the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference preseason favorite, according to a poll of league sports information directors released Friday.

The Pointers have won two of the last three regular-season conference crowns and six of the last seven WIAC tournament titles. They received six first-place votes and were followed by Whitewater, Oshkosh, La Crosse, Superior, Stout and Platteville.

Wisconsin-Superior has won 19 conference games over the past two seasons — the best stretch in school archives —and lost five games last season by one run. The Yellowjackets only played six home games in 2011 but have 12 scheduled this spring.
