State boys hockey: East salvages trip to state with consolation title

The Greyhounds scored three power-play goals and goalie Dylan Parker made 35 saves as the Greyhounds salvaged a trophy by winning the Class AA fifth-place game Saturday at Mariucci Arena in Minneapolis.
Dom Toninato scored on the power play at 12:38 of the second period and linemate and fellow Mr. Hockey candidate Jake Randolph had two power-play goals in the third period to carry the Greyhounds (29-2) to victory. The Mr. Hockey award will be handed out at a presentation this afternoon in St. Paul.
Steven Holappa scored 12:02 into the first period to put East ahead early.
The only goal Parker allowed came off the stick of Eric Peterson in the final minute of the second period.
