Ashland’s Jack Pearce defeated John Roycraft of Winneconne, 9-4, to claim the Division 2 120-pound division title Saturday night at the Wisconsin state wrestling championships held at the University of Wisconsin Fieldhouse in Madison.

Pearce (49-1) trailed Roycraft (43-2) 2-0 after the first period, but he grabbed a 4-2 advantage after the second and extended his lead to five points in the third.

Pearce’s feat comes two years after Superior’s Nikola Bogojevic won the Division 1 285-pound championship.
