Family, pets survive house fire in Superior

A fire severely damaged a home 1311 N. 21st St. in Superior early this morning, but the Superior Fire Department said no one was hurt.

A fire severely damaged a home 1311 N. 21st St. in Superior early this morning, but the Superior Fire Department said no one was hurt.

By the time firefighters arrived at about 12:30 a.m. flames were coming out of the front of the home, where the fire was believed to have started. The family of four that lives at the home were awoken by the fire; Superior Battalion Chief Vern Johnson said they were out of the home by the time fire crews arrived.

Johnson said one of the family members also was able to rescue the family dog, cat and hamster.

He estimated the damage to be about $25,000. He said the cause of the fire is unknown and is being investigated.
