Yellowjackets erupt for six goals

Chelsey Wierschem scored a pair of power-play goals to lead Wisconsin-Superior to a 6-2 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association victory over Concordia (Wis.) Saturday at Ozaukee Ice Center in Mequon, Wis.

The Yellowjackets trailed 1-0 before scoring six unanswered goals —one each from Alison Shrift, Bailey Lane, Dani Schultz and Kiara DeKezel and two from Wierschem. The scoring surge spanned all three periods.

Amy Torgerson made 22 saves for the Yellowjackets (9-5-2 overall, 8-3-1 NCHA), while Andre Mizanskey stopped 23 shots for Concordia (7-8-1, 5-6-0) before being pulled in favor Hannah Redden, who made 6 saves in the final 15 minutes.

    Michelle Fischer scored the Saints’ first goal, an even-strength tally at 16:06 of the second period. Jordan Klimek followed up with a goal at 19:22 of the same period, and Kaitlin Johnston scored the game-winner at 13:24 of the third.

    Shannon Connolly made 24 saves for CSS (10-4-3 overall, 8-3-1 NCHA), while Janna Beilke-Skoug stopped 25 shots for the Pointers (9-6-2, 8-3-1).
