Local rinks remain in curling hunt

Paul Pustovar’s Hibbing rink and Philip DeVore’s Superior rink picked up victories Saturday to remain in the running at the 2012 USA Curling Senior Men’s National Championship at the Capital Curling Club in Bismarck, N.D.

Paul Pustovar’s Hibbing rink and Philip DeVore’s Superior rink picked up victories Saturday to remain in the running at the 2012 USA Curling Senior Men’s National Championship at the Capital Curling Club in Bismarck, N.D.

Pustovar defeated George Godfrey, 6-5, in extra ends to improve to 4-1, while DeVore scored three points in the eighth end to edge Ken Persinger’s Alaska rink, 7-6, and improve to 3-1. Duluth’s Ross Litman was also 3-1 heading into the final round-robin draw Saturday evening.

The quarterfinals are today.
