College hockey: WCHA coaches pick UMD No. 5

The Minnesota Duluth men were picked to finish fifth in the 41st Grand Forks Herald preseason Western Collegiate Hockey Association poll released Wednesday.

The Minnesota Duluth men were picked to finish fifth in the 41st Grand Forks Herald preseason Western Collegiate Hockey Association poll released Wednesday. That matched the pick a day earlier in the league media poll.

Denver was ranked No. 1, followed by defending regular-season champion North Dakota, Colorado College and Nebraska-Omaha.

Colorado College sophomore forward Jaden Schwartz was named preseason player of the year and North Dakota freshman Rocco Grimaldi was named rookie of the year.
