The University of Wisconsin-Superior Music Department host a tour of world music through the eyes and ears of a violinist Erin Aldridge and percussionist Brett Jones at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Webb Recital Hall.
The audience will be treated to music from Argentina, Canada, China, Romania and the U.S. that ranges from Bela Bartok to Guns N' Roses.
"There are two pieces we will perform written for violin and various percussion instruments," said Aldridge. "These pieces have different takes on what we think people will identify as belonging to the 'fiddling' genre. Other pieces include favorites of ours that Brett Jones has adapted for marimba, vibraphone and violin. Those include Arvo Part's 'Fratres,' Astor Piazzolla's 'Histoire du tango: Nightclub 1960,' and one of Bartok's most well-known pieces, the 'Romanian Folk Dances.' There is definitely something for everyone."
Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors and students. The Webb Recital Hall is in Holden Fine and Applied Arts Center, 1805 Catlin Ave. For information, call (715) 394-8115 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
