Fun of a spooky nature for all at the library

Come to Superior Public Library during October for spooky and not-so-spooky fun for all ages. Enjoy movies and live music, meet real paranormal researchers and have fun at our trick-or-treat event.

Prepare for our Willy Wonka-themed trick-or-treat by coming to the library Saturday, Oct. 13, at 11 a.m. for a free showing of the 1971 film "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" starring Gene Wilder. This movie is rated PG.

On Monday, Oct. 15, at 6 p.m., join us for "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom." This movie is rated PG-13. Free snacks are available at all movies.

The Duluth Paranormal Society will come to the library Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m. for a free, family-friendly program where you'll get to know this group of paranormal researchers. Learn about the group, their personal lives, beliefs and theories, the equipment they use and their investigation techniques. See evidence from past cases, including the infamous Nopeming Sanitorium. All are invited.

Our free monthly yoga class with Superior YMCA wellness coordinator Jen Rosnau continues Oct. 20 at 10:30 a.m. Bring a mat for a relaxing one-hour yoga class for ages 12 and up. Increase flexibility and strength while relieving stress. Stick around after class for tea and socializing. Donations will be accepted, with all proceeds going toward library programs, materials and services.

Join us Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m. for a free performance by SING! A Women's Chorus on its farewell tour. Directed by Mags David, this group of singers learns music in the oral tradition and performs a variety of traditional music from the U.S., Europe and West Africa, as well as original songs written for the chorus by David. Refreshments provided by the Friends of the Library.

Our annual Library Trick-or-Treat event is a Halloween tradition for the entire community. Join us Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for our ninth annual event and you'll find a whole cast of costumed characters from Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. Put on your costume, bring an item for the food shelf and make your way through the decorated set while collecting candy along the way. This event is free and open to all.
