Nominations sought for book awards
The University of Minnesota Duluth's Kathryn A. Martin Library and Friends of the Duluth Public Library are seeking nominations for the 13th annual Northeastern Minnesota Book Awards.
Books may be nominated in one of six categories — nonfiction, fiction, art, photography, children's literature, poetry and memoir. A non-refundable $25 entry fee is required for each nominated title.
The awards recognize books that are representative of northeastern Minnesota in the areas of history, culture, heritage or lifestyle. For purposes of the awards, northeastern Minnesota includes Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Kanabec, Koochiching, Lake, Pine and St. Louis counties.
Nominated books must have been originally released in 2017. Books must have been written in English and published in bound paper format (for e-books, call (218) 726-7889). Exhibition catalogues cannot be accepted.
The award prizes include $200, 100 book seals, and a plaque for the winner in each category. Books receiving honorable mention in each category will be recognized with a plaque and 100 book seals.
