UWS among Wisconsin building projects approved
The state of Wisconsin Building Commission last week approved several key projects across the state including classroom renovations and instructional technology improvements for the UW System.
The approvals included funding for UW-Extension, UW-Stout and campuses in Eau Claire, Green Bay, La Crosse, Madison, Milwaukee, Oshkosh, Parkside, Platteville, River Falls, Stevens Point, Superior and Whitewater.
At UW-Superior, the approval means upgrades for the music department, said spokesman Tom Hansen.
“It is still early in the process, I’m told, since it was just approved,” Hansen said. But bidding for the project is expected to start in August or September for the engineering first, with bid documents to be created by mid-winter and construction bids to follow in late winter for construction next summer.
Other projects approved by the commission include renovation of the Green Bay Motor Vehicles Service Center; and maintenance and repairs to the Eau Claire and Waukesha State Office Buildings.
“The projects approved … will provide necessary updates to facilities in all areas of our state,” said Gov. Scott Walker. “I would like to thank building commission members for taking action on the projects.”
