According to the criminal complaints:

The men responded to a Backpage.com ad posted by the Superior Police Department. A female undercover officer texted with the men, arranging meetings at a Superior hotel. Sclavi was arrested in the hotel room.

Oakman was arrested in the parking lot after arriving at the hotel. An unloaded, uncased handgun was found in his vehicle and he also faces one count of carrying a concealed weapon.

Both arrests took place in November during a six-week prostitution sting conducted by the Superior Police Department, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Duluth Police Department and Lake Superior Drug and Gang Task Force.

The investigations focused on addressing crimes associated with human trafficking, including prostitution, and patronizing and solicitation of prostitutes.

Two women and seven men were arrested as a result of the sting, according to Deputy Chief Nick Alexander of the Superior Police Department. Two other men, Neil Robert Erickson, 36, of Wrenshall, Minn. and Jared John Fiege, 26, of Duluth have made initial appearances in court. Each faces a single count of prostitution-sexual contact stemming from the sting. Those two cases remain open in Douglas County Circuit Court.

In addition, information developed during the investigation led a search warrant and arrest of Douglas County resident Charles David Sislo, 39. He was charged with drug and financial crimes as well as two counts for soliciting a prostitute.
