The Northwestern Tigers boys basketball team was down 26-11 at the half to the Hayward Hurricanes Friday in a Heart O’ North game in Hayward, but came back to quell the Hurricanes and come out with a 37-34 win.

Ten straight points to start the second half got the Tigers within striking distance, and tenacious defense enabled the team to pull out the road win.

Nate Pearson lead Northwestern with 11 points; Trevor Paulus, Jeffrey Priem and Travis Abrahamzon had eight each; and Alex Tecker had two for Northwestern.

The Tigers (3-0) play at Ashland today and Cumberland Thursday. Both games begin at 7:15 p.m.
