Tigers improve to 11-4

The Northwestern boys basketball team defeated Cumberland 72-38 Thursday night in Maple and then went to Ladysmith and defeated the Lumberjacks 65-40 Friday night.

On Thursday, the Tigers (11-4, 7-3 Heart O’ North Conference) got 30 points from Jeffrey Priem, 14 from Travis Abrahamzon and 13 from Nate Pearson.

The Beavers (3-13, 2-9) were led by A.J. Becker’s 10 points.

Northwestern led from the start and put the game out of reach with a 27-4 advantage in the second quarter.

On Friday, the Tigers got 17 points from Brayden Bartelt, 14 points from Carter Shelafoe and 12 more from Priem.

Riley Herbes led Ladysmith with 14 points.

Northwestern, which played at Spooner Monday, plays at Grantsburg today and at Barron Friday. Both games begin at 7:15 p.m.
