Tamara J. Berg

Tamara J. Berg, age 40 of Iron River, Wis., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at her home in Iron River.

She was born Dec. 28, 1973, the daughter of Harold "Skip" Anderson and Barb Lahti of Iron River.

Tami graduated from Northwestern High School in Maple in 1992 and received a practical nursing degree from WITC in 2013. She married Matt Berg, her childhood friend, on Aug. 8, 2008, on the shores of Lake Superior. She was a gifted artist and was able to turn anything into a work of art work that she touched. She enjoyed her music and loved to watch movies. Her favorites were the "Pirates of the Caribbean," "Lord of the Rings," zombie movies and anything that starred Johnny Depp. Tami had a great love for the outdoors, taking many hikes and picking rocks throughout the Lake Superior region. Her greatest love and most favorite places were the U.P., Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Munising, Mich. and Copper Harbor in Michigan.

Tami had a great love for good food, but none of that fancy stuff. One of her favorite places was 5 Guys and oh, you should have seen that glow in her face when she placed her order.

Tami enjoyed the simple things in life and was not a materialistic person. Her smile and laugh could brighten up the darkest day. Tami was not afraid to learn anything new. She was determined that she could do anything that she set her mind to. She was able to wire a house, install windows, do woodworking, any carpentry work, landscaping, change out motors in a pellet stove and the list goes on and on. Yes, she could paint, which was one of God's great gifts that she had. Tami was able to tackle any job that came her way and was not afraid. She will always be that special person, loving mother, friend, sister, daughter, granddaughter and precious wife that we all have loved and will love forever and ever.

She is survived by her husband Matt Berg of Iron River; three children that she loved dearly, Thomas Odegard, James VanNess and Niki VanNess; her mother and father-in-law, Duane and Connie Berg, Spooner; a brother, Dan (Lisa) Anderson, Iron River; her grandma, June Kniskern, Iron River; a nephew, Dietrich Raivala and a niece, Alexandra Anderson.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harold "Skip" Anderson.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Grace Baptist Church in Iron River with Pastor Tom Blomberg officiating. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Lunch will follow the service.
