Superior Optimists pick youth Kolanczyk, Schwarz
Elizabeth Kolanczyk and McKenzie Schwarz, juniors at Superior High School, were selected Superior Optimist Club Youth Optimists for February.
Elizabeth Kolanczyk participates in SHS basketball, track, Key Club, FCA, and as an officer in Pledgemakers. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership program, and Cathedral of Christ the King Church. She is planning to attend a four-year university after high school to pursue an education in the medical field. Elizabeth is the daughter of Rick and Linda Kolanczyk.
McKenzie Schwarz participates in SHS football and basketball. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership program. He volunteers as a reading mentor. His plans after high school are to pursue an advanced degree in the sciences and then to return to live in the area. McKenzie is the son of Jim and Pauline Schwarz.
The students have been joining the Optimist Club for weekly luncheon meetings. They will have the opportunity next fall to apply for a $1,000 service award sponsored by the club.
