Superior man charges for sex assault, trafficking
A Superior man accused of trafficking a child made an initial appearance in Douglas County Circuit Court last week.
Eugene Wearing, 53, is facing seven counts of second-degree sexual assault of a child, two counts of using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime and one count of trafficking of a child.
Wearing remains in custody at the Douglas County Jail pending $1,000 bail. Bail was set with the condition Wearing have no contact with the victim or any child under the age of 16 except his own children. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
According to the criminal complaint:
Wearing sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl numerous times in February and March. Wearing is a friend of the girl’s family who has helped out and provided rides for them. After the first few assaults, Wearing brought up a “business idea” to the girl — she could earn money by giving men oral or regular sex.
Wearing took pictures of the girl partially clothed and set up an ad on Craigslist. He also continued to sexually assault the teen although she told him she didn’t want to.
After one incident, he told her she made a commitment to him and the business, and she would have to do what he wanted her to.
If convicted, Wearing faces a maximum penalty of up 40 years of imprisonment for each of the charges.
