SHS boys go 0-2 in BRC-WVC Challenge

The Spartans lost to Eau Claire Memorial 54-49 in overtime Friday night then fell to Hudson 62-59 Saturday afternoon.

Trailing by two points Friday against ECM, Superior thought it won the game when Jake Libal appeared to make game-winning 3-point basket at the final buzzer. It was ruled Libal’s foot was on the three-point line awarding him with a 2-point basket, which tied the game at 47-47 and force overtime.

The Old Abes outscored the Spartans 7-2 in the extra session to win by five points.

Jon Lindberg led a well-balanced Superior attack with 10 points. Libal, Brett Lozon and Matt O’Shaughnessy added nine points apiece, Nate Sanders had four and Devin Rivord and Connor Gray each had two.

O’Shaughnessy’s points came on three 3-pointers.

Against Hudson, Devan Rivord led Superior with 13 points. Libal added 12 points and Sanders had 11.

The Spartans host Eau Claire North at 7:15 p.m. Friday.
