Sharpen hunting skills at a public shooting range

The November gun-deer season is about five weeks away and there are plenty of public access shooting ranges for you to sharpen your skills.

The DNR Public Shooting Range map offers information about each site, including types of shooting activities allowed and links to the individual range websites. It's easy to navigate and easy to find.

To view the site, you may access it in one of two ways. Visit dnr.wi.gov and search with the keywords "shooting ranges." Or check out the following web page, http://dnr.wi.gov/education/outdoorskills/shootingranges/. According to the site, there are two public shooting ranges in Douglas County: Northwoods Trap and Rifle Range at 101333 E. County Highway Y in Gordon and Eau Claire Lakes Conservation Club at 5303 Rifle Range Road in Solon Springs. The Solon Springs range can be contacted at 715-795-2560; the phone number for the Gordon range is 715-376-2693.
