SFD rescues Fraser Shipyard worker after fall aboard Boland
Superior Wisconsin 1410 Tower Ave. 54880

A worker at Fraser Shipyard sustained non-life threatening injuries when he fell an undetermined distance in the forepeak (bow thruster chamber) of the John J. Boland this morning

The Superior Fire Department responded to a request for emergency medical and rescue around 9:10 a.m. today.

Crews gained access to the worker and assessed, stabilized and packaged him in a stokes basket. He was lifted vertically out of the chamber to the ship’s deck. After reorienting the man, he and a tending firefighter were lowered to a waiting ambulance crew on the ground.

The man was transported to a local hospital.

Superior fire crews cleared the scene at 10:44 a.m.
