Steven Michael Metzig, 23, faces a felony charge of attempted incest. Cash bail of $1,000 was set for Metzig and he was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim or the victim’s residence.

According to the criminal complaint:

Metzig slept overnight at the victim’s residence July 30, sleeping on the couch. Early the next morning, the victim reported, Metzig came into her bedroom, put his hand on the inside of her thigh and started sliding it up her leg.

Metzig is a convicted sex offender who was on probation at the time of the incident.

As a condition of his probation, he was ordered to have no unsupervised contact with females younger than 18.

When questioned by Superior Police Investigator Michelle Lear, Metzig said he felt attracted to the victim. When asked what law enforcement could do to help him, Metzig said, “Honestly, I hate to say it, but the only thing I can think of is to revoke me [from probation].” He said he didn’t want “any chances of doing anything again.”

Metzig remains in custody at the Douglas County Jail. His next court appearance is Wednesday. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of up to 30 years in prison and a fine up to $50,000.
