River alliance seeks volunteers for clean up
The St. Louis River Alliance needs volunteers to help with its annual river cleanup 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. This year’s location is the Western Waterfront Trail starting at Munger Landing and railroad tracks, Kingsbury Creek and Striker Bay Creek to eastern portion of Western Waterfront Trail in Duluth.
Volunteers can show up in the Western Waterfront Trail parking lot behind the Munger Inn, 7408 Grand Ave., Duluth. Follow the signs for River Cleanup on Pulaski Street back to the parking lot.
Volunteers may sign up for one, two or four hours. They should wear work clothes and bring gloves if they have them. A limited number of gloves will be provided. Hip boots are also recommended for those who wish to tackle the removal of items from the water near shore. Drinking water provided.
