River alliance holds annual meeting at WITC
The St. Louis River Alliance will hold its 2014 annual membership meeting 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the WITC Convention Center in Superior.
The meeting agenda will include highlights of St. Louis River Alliance activity in 2013 and a preview of what the organization has planned for 2014.
Following the membership meeting, there will be a presentation about the recent protection and restoration of Clough Island, the largest island on the St Louis River.
In 2010, the island was purchased from a private party by the Nature Conservancy, which turned it over to the state. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource has been restoring habitat on the island using a $250,000 grant from U.S. Fish and Wildlife Coastal Wetland Protection & Restoration program.
The presentation includes a brief historical review given by Julene Boe followed a report on the DNR’s habitat restoration work given by Matt Steiger of the DNR.
This event is free and open to the public. Interested persons may sign up as members at this event. RSVP by calling 218-733-9520 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
