These new hours will make it easier for the public to see our exhibits, visit the museum shop and attend special programming. Plans for programming are genealogy research, metal detecting, geocaching, writing personal histories and movie nights. If you have any suggestions for our Thursday night programs, please let us know. You’ll be helping us serve you better.

History Sundays also resume this month. Winter is a great time to do some deep house cleaning, genealogy or going through a couple generations of old photos.

On Sunday, Mike Mennes, owner of First Photo comes to discuss the care and transfer of your old home movies. History Sundays begin at 2 pm. Admission is $3 for nonmembers; members free.

Once again the 1943 USO Canteen Radio Show was a success, with part of the proceeds going to the Northland Youth Music Group. A big thanks goes out once again to our talented and generous community, Randy Lee and the Northland Youth Music Group and our sponsors, Kari Toyota, Nuumi Jewelers, Superior Water, Light and Power and National Bank of Commerce.

The cast has been selected for the next History Theatre Winter Classics production, “Little Women,” which runs March 21-30 with a VIP fundraising preview night March 20, when actors in full costume will receive guests at a wine and hors d’oeuvres reception before the show. The cast includes actors from past DCHS productions. Playing the four sisters are Hannah Ness, Gabby Ford, Sannah Arvidson-Hicks, with Jessica Johnson as the older Amy and Naomi Lear as the younger Amy. Jennifer Grau plays Marmy and rounding out the main characters are Mathew Davey, Cheri Tesarek, Jason Wall, James Walsh and Roger Reinert.
