Optimists select Tunell, Lisak as January youth

Hunter Tunell and Kjersten Lisak, juniors at Superior High School, were selected Superior Optimist Club Youth Optimists for January.

Tunell participates in SHS Student Council, FCA, and Pledgemakers. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership program. He is an active member of Bayside Baptist Church, participating in the Edge Bible Study, Child Evangelical Fellowship, and youth group. He would like to attend Moody Bible Institute in Chicago after high school to become a pastor or a youth pastor. Hunter is the son of Barb and Dave Tunell.

Lisak participates in SHS Pledgemakers, FCA, FBLA, soccer, and as the captain of the swim and dance teams. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership program. She is an active member of United Presbyterian Church youth group, volunteering in the nursery and for meal service. She plans to attend a four-year college after high school to pursue a career in the field of sports medicine or physical therapy. Kjersten is the daughter of Tom and Beth Lisak.

The students have been joining the Optimist Club for weekly luncheon meetings. They will have the opportunity next fall to apply for a $1,000 service award sponsored by the club.
