Marjorie Mae Irons

Marjorie Mae Irons, 75, a lifelong resident of Iron River, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013 at the St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, Minn. surrounded by her family. She was born April 23, 1938, in Barnes, Wis. the daughter of Rudolph E. and Mae Elizabeth (Stephans) Mortenson.

Marge graduated from Iron River High School. In her later years, she lived at the Phoenix Villa Apartments in Iron River where she enjoyed cooking, baking and conversing with new and old friends. You could always find her in the kitchen cooking up something for whoever stopped by. For many years, Marge enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and the neighborhood children. She was a caring and wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was loved and will be sadly missed.

She is survived by fivedaughters, Pam (Mike) Elavsky, Iron River, Debbie Irons, Chippewa Falls, Wis. Teresa (Gene Lahti) Irons, Iron River, Tammy (Robert) Connor, Iron River and Amber (Gary) Wade, Iron River, nine grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, a sister, Carolyn (Skip) Ryan, Grand Rapids, Minn., a sister-in-law, Andrea Mortenson, Iron River and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, a daughter, Cindy, two brothers, Randy and Mickey, a sister, Becky and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21 at the Calvary Presbyterian Church in Iron River, with Rev. Tom Blomberg officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service. Spring inurnment will take place in the Iron River City Cemetery.

The Roberts Funeral Home in Ashland is handling the arrangements.
