Lake Superior Writers recognizes contest winners
Lake Superior Writers announced the winners of its 2014 Poetry, Fiction and Creative Nonfiction Writing Contest on the theme “Apart/Together:”
• Andrea Northwood of Grand Marais won in the poetry category with “Home.”
• David Schultz of Duluth won in the short story category with “Tourist at a Funeral.”
• James Brakken of Cable, Wis., won in the short-short story category with “Time and the River.”
• Dianna Hunter of Duluth won in the creative nonfiction category with “The Dead Cow and the Great Man.”
There were 75 entries submitted in the four categories. Each winner read from their work at the Literary Celebration held at the Underground Theater in the Historic Union Depot on May 18 and received $250. Read the winning entries at http://lakesuperiorwriters.org/2014-writing-contest.
