KIN appreciates neighbors’ help

The weather was wonderful and Botten’s Green Acres Golf Course was in tiptop shape for the recent Kids In Nebagamon (KIN), Mertz Rookey, Link Ford/RV golf tournament. We were so fortunate to have Mother Nature shine on a great lineup of 15 teams of golfers.

KIN assists children and families in need throughout the Maple/Northwestern school district. The organization helped more than 100 children in 40 families last Christmas. In addition to the Christmas project, KIN provides help for families in crises throughout the year.

KIN supports many programs and projects for children and families. These include subsidizing annual swimming lessons for children, providing the building in which the Imogene McGrath Memorial Public Library is located and contributing to the F.I.G.S. program which provides school supplies to students in the Northwestern school district.

KIN has a “Pay It Forward” philosophy, and many of these kids and their families become active in KIN programs and fundraisers to make sure that others can be helped in the future.

The golf tournament is an annual event and is supported by many businesses and individuals throughout the area. Among those helping as hole sponsors, contributors and as volunteers were: Garland Plumbing, Bill Ronchi Construction, Pat and Donna Quinn, Allouez Marine, Hanco Utilities, Botten’s Green Acres Golf Course, HC Directional Drilling, Mertz/Rookey Insurance, Jane Dolter, Link Ford/RV, Audrey Mazur, Dean and Dillon Yrjanainen, Poplar Building Products, Logan Moreau, Village Inn Motel and Restaurant, Brad and Jody Botten, Harnstrom Sales, Terry Johnson, Kathy’s Hair It Is, Orv Botten, Poplar Hardware, Steve Abrahamson, Forever Marge’s Floral, Terry Semanko, John Urbaniak, Wentworth Greenhouse, Sleepy Hollow Motel, Chippewa Valley Bank, Poplar Village Market, Sharon’s Lakeview Café, Lawler Family Dentistry, Lake Nebagamon, Diane Oakes of Skyline
