John Louis Lancour, Sr.
John Louis Lancour, Sr., of Lake Nebagamon, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2014 at Hospice in St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth.
He was born in Superior in 1930. He was married to Elayne (Archambault) for 65 years. He was an avid sports fan and loved his Green Bay Packers. He was a member of International Longshoremens Local 1037 for 35 years.
Besides his wife Elayne, he is survived by six sons, John Jr. (Trice), Jim (Shelley), both of Barnes, Wis., David (Fran) of Superior, Rick of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Tony (Amy) and Rob, both of Superior, as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and Sweet Stuff. He is also survived by sisters, Doreen (Lancour) Prigge and Dianne (Ojala) Young, brother, Michael Ojala, all of Superior and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Lancour; mother and step-father Margaret and Walter Ojala; father-in-law and mother-in-law Whitney, Sr. and Freeda Archambault; brothers, Donald and James (Shamus) Lancour; sister, Sharon (Ojala) Knafala; his friend and brother-in-law Whitney Archambault, Jr., who passed away Feb. 4, 2014; nieces and nephews. As well as many extended family members and friends.
By request, there will be no memorial service. Inurnment will be in Soldiers Square at Greenwood Cemetery, Superior at a later date.
