"Together Again"

Ingrid Victoria (Schulties) Semborski

May 30, 1917 -

May 26, 2014

Ingid V. Semborski, 96, of Superior passed away Monday, May 26, 2014.

Born May 30, 1917, in Superior, she was the daughter of Albin and Hannah (Johansson) Schulties. She married Charles S. Semborski in Duluth on Aug. 25, 1937. They were happily married for 61 years.

She was born and lived in the Billings Park area of Superior for almost 97 years. A member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church since 1921, she was active in the churchs garden club and Ruth Circle. Each week, she and friends met to fold the Sunday bulletin and she was proud to provide her Swedish meatballs for various church events. Ingrid graduated from Superior Central High School in 1934. Her attendance at the 100th All School Reunion in 2010, along with two of her sons, also alumni, made Woman Today magazine. Ingrid loved to bake, especially bread, cinnamon rolls and Christmas cookies, which she made for days-on-end to be shipped to her adult children for the holidays and birthdays. She also enjoyed needlework, providing many prayer shawls for those in the nursing homes and the hospital. Her adored grandchildren received one of her special crocheted afghans upon their birth and often thereafter. Ingrid was a woman who traveled into her nineties, including visiting the birthplaces of her mother and grandmother in Scandinavia, as well as annual trips to visit her family in the West. An avid Packer fan, she watched games as a proud Packer Shareholder, sometimes worrying that she would miss a game due to the church schedule. She enjoyed playing cards and especially the Tuesday night cribbage games with close friends, John and Jan Kinsley, robustly celebrating her victories and "winnings." Her infectious laughter in those moments will be missed.

The family takes comfort knowing Ingrid is once again together with husband, Charles, and her son, Thomas.

Ingrid is survived by her three sons, James Semborski (Pamela Dennis) of Boulder, Colo., Daniel Semborski of Arvada, Colo., and Charles Semborski (Jean) of Price, Utah; five grandchildren, Debra Kodra of Parker, Colo., Robert Semborski of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Thomas Semborski of Carbondale, Colo., Alesia Devaney of Price, Utah, and Stacy Semborski of Salt Lake City, Utah; three great-grandchildren, Devon and Camryn Glasco of Parker, Colo., and Remany Devaney of Price, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas in 1978; her husband, Charles in 1998; her parents; and brothers, Donald and Douglas.

A service in celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 7 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 1924 Wyoming Ave., Superior with Pastor Sarah Kerkes officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Her final resting place will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Superior, next to her son, Thomas, and husband, Charles with Pastor Sarah reciting the committal prayers. If desired, memorials may be designated in Ingrids name to the Building Fund at Our Saviors Lutheran Church.
