Hunters kill 110k deer during Wis. opening weekend
MADISON (AP) -- Hunters killed 110,797 deer during the opening weekend of Wisconsin's nine-day gun deer season, down nearly 18 percent from last year's opening two days, according to preliminary data state wildlife officials released Monday.
The buck harvest was down dramatically, according to the Department of Natural Resources. Hunters killed 53,865 bucks, down 25 percent from 71,989 last year. The antlerless harvest, meanwhile, was down 9 percent from 2012.
