Helga C. Pearson

Helga C. Pearson, 92, Maple, died peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014 in her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on Sept. 2, 1921 in Wahoo, Neb. to Herman D. and Amelia K. Anderson.

She married Harold Pearson in Fremont, Neb. on Oct. 18, 1940.

She was a mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, homemaker and a friend to all.

Helga was a life member of Cloverland Covenant Church in Cloverland where she taught Sunday school and was the Sunday school treasurer for years. She also served as secretary on the Douglas County Blood Bank Board and was a Douglas County 4-H leader.

She and her husband Harold owned and operated the family farm in Cloverland for many years. She enjoyed doing puzzles, gardening, canning/freezing food, cooking, entertaining, reading and playing cards, Aggravation and dominos. Her biggest pleasure was spending time with her family and friends.

Helga is survived by three daughters, Lorene H. (Don) Anderson, Maple, Linda (Gerald "Jerry") Soyring, Maple, Teresa Green, Brule; two sons, Larry (Marilyn) Pearson, Lake Nebagamon, Timothy H. Pearson, Maple; 10 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Bob Johnson, Iron River, Nola and Gary Honkala, Maple and Terry Larson, Lake Nebagaon.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, her parents and an infant granddaughter, Mary Royer.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. and will continue until the 5 p.m. funeral service on Sunday, March 2 in the Mission Covenant Church in Poplar with Rev. Chuck Ells, officiating.

Burial will be at a later date in Cloverland Covenant Church Cemetery.

Should friends desire, Helga requested that donations be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
