Great Lakes nearing 80 percent ice cover … and rising

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says Lake Erie, Lake Huron and Lake Superior are now almost totally covered with ice.
Monday marked the 22nd straight day of subzero temperatures recorded by the Duluth National Weather Service (NWS), tying a 50-year-old record. NWS representative Steve Gohde expected Tuesday morning would break that record.
