Good news comes from the gospel
Abraham Lincoln once remarked regarding a minister, “I like Gurley. He don’t preach politics. I get enough of that through the week, and when I go to church, I like to hear the gospel.”
Considering the turbulent times we are going through, I believe many of us feel the same way as Lincoln. In place of the daily groaning on of political arguments, we want to hear the gospel.
Allow me to share the good news with you.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
“But to as many as received Him (Jesus) to them He gave the right to become the children of God, even to those who believe on His name.” John 1:12
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:21
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
This is the gospel. Isn’t it great to hear some good news for a change?
