WILLMAR, Minn. -- A judge denied a Cyrus man's request for more time to locate witnesses he wishes to call in his defense against criminal sexual conduct charges.
District Judge David Mennis denied the request by Eugene Otto Zumhofe, 62, during a hearing Thursday in Kandiyohi County District Court.
Zumhofe is a former professional wrestler who performed as Buck “Rock n’ Roll” Zumhofe in the 1980s and early 1990s.
He is accused of molesting a young woman over a period of years. He faces 12 felony counts of first- and third-degree criminal sexual conduct for allegedly having sexual contact with the young woman about 1,800 times between 1999 and 2011.
A jury trial starts Wednesday and is scheduled through March 7.
Assistant County Attorney Nathan Midolo objected to Zumhofe’s request, noting that the case has been delayed numerous times and that the state has witnesses coming from four states.
The charges were filed in May. Zumhofe pleaded not guilty in July and posted the $50,000 conditional bail.
