Father of Gordon burglary suspect faces burglary charge
A third suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with the rash of burglaries in the Gordon-Wascott areas late last year.
Mark J. Swanson, 41, of Gordon was arrested outside the courtroom on May 15 where his son Dylan Swanson, 21, was making an appearance on 19 counts of burglary, according to a release from Chief Deputy Jerry Moe of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Dylan Swanson was bound over for further proceedings that day. Mark Swanson had a preliminary hearing on May 28 where he was also bound over for further proceedings.
Deputies executed a search warrant in November at the Swanson residence in Gordon, according to the release. DNA evidence and items recovered from that warrant, along with items recovered from the scene of a September 2013 burglary on School House Road in Gordon, were sent to the state crime lab. The lab report linked Mark Swanson to the School House Road burglary to a certainty of 1 in 7 trillion. He was arrested the next day in the courthouse. His next court appearance will be June 23.
Jacob King, 19, of Gordon also faces 19 counts of burglary stemming from the rash of burglaries, which remain under investigation.
