Environmental organizations seek nominees for stewardship awards
The St. Louis River Alliance is seeking nominations for this year’s Environmental Stewardship Awards. These annual awards recognize individuals, organizations, businesses, schools and institutions that have provided outstanding service toward restoring, protecting and enhancing the St. Louis River and its watersheds.
The awards will be presented at the 19th annual Environment Stewardship Awards Ceremony held April 8 at Spirit Mountain’s Grand Chalet.
The Lake Superior Binational Forum also is seeking nominations for its 11th annual Environmental Stewardship Awards Program. This award honors extraordinary achievements in six categories in the U.S. and Canada.
Nominations can be made on behalf of a person, group, governmental agency or tribe. Self-nominations are also accepted. The deadline for nominations April 11.
The six categories for nominations include Youth, Adult Individual, Business, Industry, Municipality/Governmental Agency or Tribe/First Nations, and Organization.
Members of the Lake Superior Binational Program review each nomination and select a winner in each of the six categories. Judges may also make Honorable Mention awards to suitable nominees.

Awards are presented to winners at a ceremony on Lake Superior Day on July 20, held annually on the third Sunday in July.
The Lake Superior Binational Program represents a partnership of federal, state, provincial and First Nations/tribal governments working together with citizens to ensure the protection of the Lake Superior basin ecosystem.
The Lake Superior Binational Forum is a citizen stakeholder group of Americans and Canadians who work together to provide input to governments about these efforts and to educate basin residents about ways to protect and restore the lake basin’s natural resources.
