Elizabeth "Betty" Campbell

Elizabeth "Betty" Campbell, 90, died Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Balmoral Care Center at Lake Forest Place, Lake Forest, Ill.

She was born in Tomahawk, Wis. on May 6, 1923 to Louis and Daisy (Landry) Block.

The youngest of seven children, she moved with her family at the age of five, to the Neenah/Menasha, Wisconsin area, graduating from St. Mary's High School. She attended the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, and on May 19, 1945, married Ford S. Campbell Jr. They were to celebrate 53 years of marriage when Ford died in 1998. She was a long time member of St. Francis Xavier Church where she was actively involved in both school and church activities. She instructed girls Physical Education at Cathedral High School for five years. She was a "Grey Lady" and past member of the Nemadji Golf Club and Long View Tennis Club, Duluth.

In addition to her husband Ford, she is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Frederick Block and Monsignor Leo Block; three sisters, Marie Stinski, Margaret Heiss, and Helen Lenz; four brother-in-laws, Clayton Heiss, Herb Stinski, David Lenz, and Ray Henk; one sister-in-law, Lois Block.

She is survived by her son, Ford (Kathy) S. Campbell III, Lake Forest, Ill.; a grandson, Ford (Laura) S. Campbell lV, Moorestown, N.J.; a granddaughter, Lauren (Chris) Wilberding, Libertyville, Ill.; great grandchildren, Adele and Ryan Wilberding and Elouise and Ford Campbell V; one sister, Lois Henk, Clintonville, Wis.; 23 nieces and nephews; along with her wonderful neighbors who cared for and supported her while remaining in her Superior home.

Mass of Christian burial at St. Francis Xavier Church will be celebrated by Father Jim on Friday, May 16, with visitation prior and private burial to follow at the St. Francis Cemetery.
