Dennis D. Brokaw
Dennis D. Brokaw, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, in the Edina Health Care Center in Edina, Minn. with family at his side. He fought a long and courageous fight against prostate cancer for the past four and one half years.
He was born in Superior, Wis. to Ann and Ardell Brokaw on March 15th, 1951.
Dennis lived most of his adult life in Richfield, Minn. working in the food service industry. Over the years he worked at a number of jobs in food service, the most recent was with Aramark Food service providing cafeteria services for the offices of Thomson Reuters in Egan, Minn. At this job he became an "entertainer," he would often dress in an outfit that was appropriate for the occasion (bunny at Easter, Santa at Christmas etc.), would play music for the lunch group and at one time was actually observed dancing with the ice cream barsgo figure! He enjoyed teasing his customers, had a way of making them feel special and had a knack for putting smiles on the faces of his customers, he calls each of his customers "my friend."
He also loved the outdoors. As a child, he could be found fishing off Barker's Island and this carried on with him to his death. He also was an avid bow hunter and hunted in the Lake Nebagamon area every fall.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters; Marilyn (Lawrence) Peterson, and Lois (John) Burud.
He is survived by his partner Nancy Lien; sisters Jackie (Donald) Chandler, and Sharyn (Gerald) Boothe; as well as many loved nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held at a later date. Memorials preferred to the Superior Salvation Army.
