Dalbec, Wick carry Douglas County races
Douglas County voters elected to keep their sheriff, at least until the November primary.
Democratic Sheriff Tom Dalbec remains in the running in November when he faces a challenge from Republican candidate Daniel Bethards, a Lac Courte Orreilles narcotics officer. Bethards ran unopposed in the Republican primary.
Dalbec carried almost 55 percent of the vote over Democratic challenger Mark Liebaert, a member of the Douglas County Board and former Superior police officer.
Neither candidate could be reached for comment Tuesday night.
Voters also decided who would next serve as the Douglas County Clerk of Courts. Michele Wick, an 11-year employee of the office with oversight for court functions carried nearly 78 percent of the vote over her Democratic challenger, David Leckel.
Wick runs unopposed in the Nov. 4 election.
