Carol Ahlberg, 74, longtime Superior resident, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospice in Duluth. She was born on July 4, 1939 in Bennett to Gideon and Jennie (Theien) Ahlberg.

She graduated from St. Croix High School in Solon Springs and attended the University Wisconsin-Green Bay and received her certification for municipal clerks.

Carol had been employed with Douglas County, Superior Quality Builders, Douglas County Abstract and Title Company, and was the City Clerk for many years, the position from which she retired. Following her retirement, she need something to do so she became the director of the Senior Citizen Center for two years.

She was a member of the Moose Lodge No. 606.

Carol is survived by one daughter, Susan (Gregory Lord) Ahlberg, Thief River Falls, Minn.; two granddaughters, Jenna (McQuade) Arnold, Norfolk, Va., Taylor Ahlberg, Thief River Falls, Minn.; one great-grandson, Hudson Allen Arnold who is entering the world in September. She is also survived by three sisters, Joanne (Ron) Robb, Duluth, Eileen Garay, Solon Springs, Deborah (David) Headd, Cape Coral, Fla.; several nieces and nephews and two special cousins, Sandra (James) Walker, Rochester, Minn. and Tony Swanson, Minneapolis, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Allen "Big Al" Porter and a brother, John Ahlberg.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and will continue until the 11 a.m. memorial service on Saturday, July 26 in the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Ave. in Superior. John Maynard, from Twin Ports Baptist Church, will officiate.

Downs-LeSage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
