Bucks hold auditions for national anthem singers
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Men, women and children auditioned "American Idol" style at a chance to sing the national anthem at a Milwaukee Bucks game.
The audition lasted six hours on Saturday in the atrium at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
The team's director of game entertainment, John Watson, says 171 people auditioned. Some were professional while others were beginners.
Watson, his assistant Kris Burnelli and Bucks' dance team manager Tricia Crawford judged the singers, but they didn't offer any comment.
Watson told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that 5 to 10 winners will be announced early in the coming week.
However, based on Saturday's auditions the judges picked Meri Katherine Bock of Racine to sing at Saturday's preseason game against the Detroit Pistons.
