Billings Park access shifts for road reconstruction
Starting in early June, people will have to find a new way to get into Billings Park.
The bridge and road were damaged during the flood in June 2012, and the aesthetics and function of the pedestrian corridor have been in need of improvement for years, said Mary Morgan, parks, recreation and forestry director.
The reconstruction project includes demolishing the existing road and bridge, installing new culvert, rebuilding the road, pouring new concrete bridge walls and adding decorative liners to the walls to give it a stone look.
During the construction project, expected to continue until early August, vehicular traffic is being rerouted to the south along Royalton Road to Billings Drive.
