Benefits help family rebuild lives after fire
A benefit for a South Range couple who lost their home in a fire last month will be held in two locations Saturday. A spaghetti feed runs 4-8 p.m. at the Parkland Town Hall. The event includes kids’ games, a cake walk, raffle and silent auction. Cost for the dinner is $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 6-12 and to-go orders are available for $7.
At the same time, the Checkerboard Bar will be hosting casino games. Proceeds from the events will be used to help Jane and Gary “Garb” Roisum rebuild their lives.
Their home was destroyed in a Feb. 4 fire. Although Gary Roisum was able to get out of the house safely, three family pets, including the dog that woke him up to warn him about the fire, perished. The mobile home was not insured.
Their daughter, Brandi Winfield, said the community has rallied to provide prizes, cakes and support as they prepare for the dual benefits.
“The response has been so amazing,” she said.
