Carolers bring holiday cheer to rural area

Submitted photo Girl Scout members pose outside Agnes Kennard’s home in Wascott after serenading her and her son with Christmas carols.

Agnes Kennard

Imagine our surprise, living out here in the woods on a small lake in great northwestern Wisconsin, almost in the middle of nowhere, on Football Sunday yet ...when the melodious sounds of young voices singing Christmas carols reached our ears — me and my son.

Then imagine our delight. Eleven young girl scouts accompanied by their leaders had ventured out into the relative solitude of our unpopulated area to bring Christmas cheer to our doorstep. And that they did in a big way. Their caroling was clear, sweet and in full harmony, often including a little flair at the end.

If that wasn’t enough, they presented us with a gift bag full of treasures handmade by each troop. That plus smiles all around has made this Christmas season special.

Thank you Troops 4525, 4455, 4521, 4385 and 4437 of the Minong area. You really touched our hearts.
